Just a few thoughts

The St. Louis Blues
I have been a supporter of most of what the new Blues regime has done since it took over. That being said, I was not too pleased with their trade deadline moves this week. I had decided a while back that if it came down to keeping Barrett Jackman or Bryce Salvador, my vote was for Bryce. There is little doubt that the Blues fans will like the hard-hitting high-energy local boy Cam Janssen. Nevertheless, the Blues gave up a top three defenseman for a fighter. I can't find any good reason for that.

I don't see giving up former first-round pick Christian Backman as such a big deal but, he has to be worth more than a fourth-round pick right?

What concerns me the most is that these deals are typical of the old Blues regimes. They seem to be panic moves. Those end-of-the-season, "We have to do something." moves. I really hope that those days are not coming back.

Someone is too slow.

You have to watch out for those Zambonis. They can sneak up on you.

Looks like what would happen to Vince Coleman on ice. (You have to be a Cardinals fan to get that.)

(Don't worry, it is just transmission fluid.)

Ta Da!

A while back I was reading through the blogs of those in my little social network. A common theme for a day or so had been everyone's love for to-do lists. This is something I use myself quite a bit. I don't utilize one every single day. But fairly often I'll write up a list for a day or a week. I find this especially useful when facing larger project. Just listing the project can be daunting and can lead to procrastination. I have found though that by breaking the project down to each little task (no matter how insignificant) and listing them out makes it much more manageable.

Anyway there is no need for me to walk you through what a list comprises. The purpose of my post is to talk about Ta Da Lists. This is a great little web app, created by 37signals, I use to make and store my lists. I found it about six months ago and keep find myself using it. The user interface is as simple as can be just type out your items and check them when you are finished. It is actually just some functionality from the companies project management web application Basecamp.

It may seem unnecessary, nothing you can't do with pen and paper. But once you try it, I suspect you won't be able to stop.

You also may want to try their online contact manager Highrise.

Every little thing counts

A minor miracle occurred today.

It didn't change THE world.
It didn't even change MY world.
But it is a start.
